Something shifts in me every year when the weather starts to change.
I don't know if it's the longer days or just the feeling that the world is waking back up, but spring always makes me want to look around at my life and ask myself what's still working and what I've just been carrying out of habit.
This year that feeling hit me harder than usual. I've been traveling a lot for the documentary, running from one thing to the next, and I realized somewhere in the middle of all of it that I had been so focused on keeping up that I hadn't stopped to actually check in with myself.
So it’s time for a spring reset!
For me it starts with the easy stuff… cleaning out my closet, swapping out the heavy candles for something that smells like actual outside, finding a few new pieces that make me feel like myself when I put them on. I've been pulling together some of my favorite things for spring right now and I'll link them here because a few of them I'm genuinely obsessed with.
But the reset that actually matters goes a little deeper than that.
Every spring I try to get honest with myself about what I'm holding onto that I don't need anymore. Old stories about who I am, patterns I keep defaulting to, and relationships or situations I've been tolerating because change feels harder than staying put.
And I know I'm not the only one doing that kind of inventory right now. So many of you have been sending in questions about dating after divorce and getting back out there, and they are good ones.
How do you know when you're really healed versus just numb?
Is it okay to talk to multiple people at once when you're back on the apps?
How do you spot a narcissist before you've already fallen, after spending years with one and not seeing it clearly until you were completely lost?
Those questions deserved a real conversation, so that's exactly what this week's episode of The Tamsen Show is (you can watch it here). Just me, your questions, and a lot of honesty including some things from my own experience that I don't always talk about.
I think the spring reset most of us actually need is deciding who you want to be and what you're willing to accept going forward. (But a good closet clean out is always a good thing too!)
Xo, Tamsen
